Electronic Poker is a popular game that can be wagered on in casinos across the world, or alternatively at home on your personal computer, using a web connection. The rules are absolutely simple and involve the player attempting to achieve the highest mixture of cards as you can in order to win cash. In this respect it is much the same as a normal game of poker, without the line of contact with competing players. Of course, methods employed during a real-life game of poker, such as bluffing, will be useless here.

The game of Electronic Poker begins when the bettor inserts credits (either tokens, credit slips or money) into the machine and pushes the play button. A hand of five cards will be electronically ‘dealt’ on the screen.

The Electronic Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and bettors should now choose which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the player would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they wish, from all to none.

After the bettor has chosen which cards he or she would like to keep, they should press ‘deal’, which will mean that any new cards are needed they will be handed out. The round is now finished, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the pay out schedule.

Typically, the minimum winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money getting larger for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payout schedule can range from machine to machine, so that experienced players are agile enough to choose the most profitable ones each instance.

As soon as the initial round has completed, the player can either decide to remain on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any cash that they may have won. Further, some versions of the game allow the bettor a chance to double their winnings, in which case a further hand is played. There are also variations between specific games, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other differing elements to increase playability.
