Video Poker is a beloved game that can be bet on in casinos throughout the world, or in your house on your PC, using a web connection. The rules are absolutely simple and involve the player trying to achieve the greatest mixture of cards possible in order to come away with cash. In this respect it is very similar as a classic game of poker, without the interaction with competing players. Of course, tactics used in a real-life game of poker, such as bluffing, will be irrelevant here.
The game of Electronic Poker starts when the gambler puts credits (whether it is tokens, tickets or money) into the video poker machine and pushes the deal button. A hand of five cards will be electronically ‘handed out’ on the video screen.
The Electronic Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and players will need to now pick which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the gambler would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the bettor has selected which cards he would like to retain, they should press ‘deal’, at which point any new cards will be needed they will be given out. The game is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands listed in the payment schedule.
Normally, the lowest succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money growing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It definitely goes without saying that the payment schedule can change from machine to machine, so that skillful enthusiasts are able to choose the most beneficial ones every instance.
As soon as the first round has completed, the player can either choose to continue on in an attempt to maximize their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any cash that they may have won. Further, a few versions of the game give the player a chance to increase their winnings, in which instance another game is played. There are also differences between specific games, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other varying aspects to increase playability.
