Video Poker is a favored game that can be enjoyed in casinos all over the world, or in your house on your home computer, through a net connection. The rules are very simple and consist of the player trying to get the best combination of cards as you can in order to acquire money. In this respect it is very similar as a classic game of poker, without the involvement with any other players. Of course, methods used in a physical game of poker, like tricking, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.

The game of Electronic Poker begins when the bettor puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or money) into the machine and pushes the draw button. A five card hand will be "handed out" on the video screen.

The Electronic Poker game also has hold buttons, and bettors will need to now decide which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the enthusiast would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, whether it’s all or none.

After the player has chosen which cards he or she would like to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any new cards are needed they will be given out. The hand is now finished, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the payout schedule.

Generally, the minimum succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payment schedule can change from game to game, so that knowledgeable bettors are agile enough to pick the most profitable machine each time.

Once the initial round has completed, the player can either decide to stay on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any credits that they may have won. Additionally, a few styles of the game give the player an opportunity to increase their profits, in which situation another round is played.
