Electronic Poker is a popular game that can be enjoyed in casinos all over the world, or alternatively at home on your personal computer, through a web connection. The game rules are very straightforward and consist of the player trying to achieve the highest combination of cards as you can in order to win cash. In this respect it is much the same as a classic game of poker, apart from the interaction with competing players. Of course, techniques employed during a real-life game of poker, such as tricking, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.
The game of Electronic Poker starts when the player puts credits (whether it’s tokens, credit slips or cash) into the machine and pushes the play button. A hand of five cards will then be electronically ‘distributed’ on the video screen.
The Video Poker machine also has hold buttons, and enthusiasts should now pick which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the enthusiast would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the player has selected which cards he would like to retain, they should press ‘deal’, at which point any fresh cards will be given out if desired. The game is now completed, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands printed on the pay out schedule.
Normally, the minimum winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money increasing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It should be known that the payment schedule can change from game to game, so that experienced gamblers are able to select the most profitable ones every time.
As soon as the first round has completed, the player can either decide to stay on and try to to maximize their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any money that they may have won. Additionally, a few versions of the game allow the bettor a chance to double their winnings, in which situation another hand is played. There are also differences among individual machines, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other varying characteristics to increase playability.
