Electronic Poker is a popular game that can be enjoyed in casinos across the world, or alternatively at home on your computer, through a web account. The rules are very simple and consist of the player attempting to get the best mixture of cards achievable in order to acquire cash. On this account it is much the same as a regular game of poker, without the line of contact with other players. Of course, methods used in a real-life game of poker, such as bluffing, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.
The game of Electronic Poker begins when the player puts credits (either tokens, tickets or money) into the machine and pushes the deal button. A 5 card hand will then be electronically ‘handed out’ on the video screen.
The Electronic Poker machine also has hold buttons, and players will need to now pick which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the bettor would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they want, from all to none.
After the player has selected which cards he or she wishes to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, at which point any fresh cards are given out if desired. The round is now finished, with the Video Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands listed in the payment schedule.
Normally, the minimum winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money growing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It goes without saying that the pay out schedule can range from machine to machine, so that skillful players are agile enough to pick the most money-making game each instance.
After the first round has played out, the player can either decide to continue on and try to to increase their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any money that has been won. Further, a few versions of the game give the bettor an opportunity to double their wins, in which case a further round is played. There are also variations between specific machines, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other differing elements to increase playability.
