Video Poker is a popular game that is able to be played in casinos around the world, or in your house on your computer, using a web account. The game rules are absolutely straightforward and consist of the player attempting to get the highest mixture of cards achievable in order to come away with money. In this respect it’s very similar as a normal game of poker, apart from the line of contact with other players. Of course, methods employed during a real-life game of poker, like bluffing, will be irrelevant here.
The game of Video Poker begins when the gambler inserts credits (either tokens, credit slips or money) into the video poker machine and pushes the deal button. A five card hand will be "distributed" on the screen.
The Video Poker game also has hold buttons, and players should now choose which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the gambler wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the player has chosen which cards she would like to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any new cards will be handed out if desired. The hand is now finished, with the Video Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the pay out schedule.
Generally, the minimum succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money increasing for each and every better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payout schedule can vary from machine to machine, so that knowledgeable bettors are agile enough to choose the most profitable machine each and every time.
After the initial round has completed, the player can either decide to stay on and try to to increase their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any credits that might been won. Further, a few versions of the game give the bettor a chance to double their profits, in which situation a further game is played. There are also variations between specific machines, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other differing aspects to enhance playability.
