Video Poker is a beloved game that can be played in casinos around the globe, or in your house on your home computer, through a web account. The rules are very straightforward and consist of the player trying to achieve the highest assemblage of cards possible in order to come away with cash. In this respect it’s much the same as a regular game of poker, apart from the line of contact with any other players. Of course, techniques employed during a physical game of poker, such as bluffing, will be irrelevant here.
The game of Video Poker begins when the bettor inserts credits (whether it’s tokens, credit slips or money) into the machine and pushes the deal button. A 5 card hand will then be "dealt" on the video screen.
The Video Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and enthusiasts should now pick which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the player wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they want, from all to none.
After the bettor has chosen which cards he wishes to retain, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any new cards will be given out if desired. The hand is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the payment schedule.
Typically, the minimum succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It is obvious that the payout schedule can change from machine to machine, so that skillful players are able to pick the most money-making ones each instance.
Once the initial round has finished, the player can either choose to continue on in an attempt to maximize their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any money that has been won. Further, several versions of the game give the player a chance to double their profits, in which case another round is played. There are also differences among specific machines, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other varying characteristics to enhance playability.
